Before I found Simeon Resource Center, I was struggling to find an opportunity to better my life. I didn’t know where to turn, and I lacked the support and direction I needed.
A friend who had gone through the program introduced me to SRC, and from the moment I connected with their team, everything changed. After speaking with the staff, I felt something I hadn’t felt in a long time—hope. They made me feel seen, heard, and truly supported. For the first time in a while, I felt like success was possible. I felt like someone genuinely believed in me.
The support that made the biggest impact was the academic help I received. They helped me get my skills back up to par, which opened doors I thought were closed for good.
Thanks to SRC, I became the valedictorian of my class. That foundation gave me the confidence and tools I needed to launch my own catering business—and I’m proud to say it’s thriving today. I truly believe my success would not have been possible without the guidance and encouragement I received from the Simeon Resource Center.
Looking ahead, my dream is to continue growing my business and, more importantly, to pay it forward by helping others. I want to be a source of hope for someone else—just like SRC was for me.
Before I came to Simeon Resource Center, I was homeless and alone in a city where I had no family, no friends, and no emotional support. It was one of the most difficult times in my life.
I was connected to Simeon through someone who had already benefited from their services. From the moment I spoke with the staff, I felt a deep sense of relief. For the first time in a long time, I knew help was on the way.
The transitional housing program was a turning point for me. It gave me the stability I needed to begin rebuilding my life. With that foundation, I was able to continue my education, eventually graduating with honors from Concorde Career Institute.
Since then, I’ve secured stable housing, maintained steady employment, and landed a job with a Fortune 500 company, where I’ve proudly worked for over ten years.
My journey wouldn’t have been possible without Simeon Resource Center. I’m forever grateful, and I now aspire to be a blessing to others—just as this organization was to me.

A men’s program referred me to Simeon Resource Center. At the time, I had been incarcerated and was on probation. I was desperately trying to figure things out. I didn’t have direction, and I didn’t have hope. What I needed was a blueprint for moving forward.
After meeting with the staff at Simeon, I felt motivated because they gave me hope. They reminded me that I still had an opportunity to do better if I applied myself. They referred me to technical training, where I earned my CDL and became a certified block mason.
Since then, I’ve been working for a construction company for 10 years, and now I am transitioning into an administrative position. Because of this stability, I’ve been able to provide a home and transportation for my family. Today, I am proud to be a family man. My children are thriving—my son is an honor student, plays the violin, and is determined to become a CEO.
I am truly grateful for what Simeon has done for me, and I want to give back. They showed me that all things are possible!

From Dead-End Job to Thriving Business Owner
Before connecting with Simeon Resource Center, I was stuck in a dead-end job moving furniture. I knew I wanted something different for my life, but I had no idea where to start. I didn’t have a clear plan or direction—just the hope that there was more out there for me.
My turning point came when I was referred to Simeon Resource Center through a men’s health program and encouraged by the court to seek their Employment and Career Counseling services. From the moment I walked through their doors, I felt comfortable, motivated, joyful, and determined. The staff didn’t just listen—they acted. Within two days, my life was moving forward in a way I never imagined.
With their guidance, I applied to Valencia College and enrolled in the Landscape Horticultural Associate of Science degree program. Simeon’s team knew exactly how to cut through the red tape and put me on the right path. I discovered a love for learning, maintained a high GPA, and was honored to be admitted into Phi Beta Kappa and the Honor Society.
After graduation, I bought my own lawn equipment and launched a landscaping business specializing in installation. My business has grown to serve both residential and commercial clients—and I’ve been able to hire people from my community who were also in need of work.
Today, I’m building a legacy. My goal is to continue growing my business so I can one day leave it for my children—a thriving, successful company born from the opportunities and encouragement Simeon Resource Center gave me.
“Simeon didn’t just help me find a career—they helped me find my future.”
